Description
The 712 Initiative and Pottawattamie County Trails Association are teaming up once again to bring you the season’s best citywide bike ride on Saturday, October 8th! Your registration includes the long or short bike ride, limited edition BIKEtober t-shirt, and access to all festivities and refreshments along the routes! Then roll on through the finish line located at the BLOCKtoberfest after party featuring live music, German food, Oktoberfest beer tasting tents, stein hoist contest, giant beer pong, bags, and tailgating garden for those who can’t miss a game!
BIKEtober Tickets: $35.00 * Register before September 26th to guarantee your shirt* *You can register the day of the event as well, but the fee will be $40 and we can’t guarantee we’ll have a t-shirt in your preferred size. The 12 & 20 mile-ish round trips are mostly flat and appropriate for most skill levels.
Schedule: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM - Registration at 114 W Broadway (in parking lot directly behind Barley’s) 4:00 PM – Short & Long Rides begin 6:00 PM – BLOCKtoberfest begins! 7:00 PM – Raffle Drawing and Stein Hoist Contest on Stage 9:00 PM – Time to say “Gute Nacht!” (BLOCKtoberfest Ends) BLOCKtober is now a FREE entry event to enjoy with your friends and family after the ride! Invite them to cheer you on as you cross the finish line and then enjoy the festivities, band and football! Great food, beverages, merchandise, and tasting glasses to sample all of the best Oktoberfest beers will be available for purchase.
Must present ID and receive wristband to purchase alcoholic beverages and tasting glasses in the BLOCKtoberfest garden. Waivers are required to ride and you will be asked to sign one when you check in the day of the ride. Riders under 18 years of age welcome with a parent or guardian. Please bring your ID and cash or credit card if you’re planning to order additional beer, seltzer, etc. Event will proceed rain or shine. No refunds.
This is a fundraiser for The 712 Initiative, a nonprofit aimed at improving the economic vitality in redevelopment areas through investments in built environment, activating public spaces and delivering programs that increase social engagement and healthy lifestyle and the Pottawattamie County Trail Association, a non-profit dedicated promoting health and prosperity to future generations through the development and promotion of a county-wide trail system in Pottawattamie County.
