Description
Our mindsets shape and color our expectations, attitudes, motivations and intentions, and they influence how we think, feel and behave in any given situation. When we speak of a “growth mindset” we are talking about our beliefs about “intelligence”. This is the contribution of Dr. Carol Dweck and her research on what she calls “a fixed mindset” and “a growth mindset”. Her research has demonstrated that how we think about intelligence influences not only our opinions, but also how intelligent and successful we become in life. Which mindset we possess also affects how we perceive others’ intelligence, and how much effort we will make on their behalves – including our children, mates, peers, students, colleagues, and clients/patients. This session describes the neuroscience that supports Dr. Dweck’s findings, and ways we can cultivate a growth mindset in ourselves and others.
