Accompanist (Part-Time)
Position: Accompanist
Location: Abraham Lincoln High School
Hours: 20-25 hours/week
Pay: $18.50/hour
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the music director, accompany the school choir during rehearsals and concerts and assist the director with rehearsals and concerts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned. Essential duties must be performed on-site.
- Perform piano accompaniment for practice, rehearsals, and performances of school choirs.
- Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas, correcting mistakes, and providing the right notes and rhythms.
- Assist by leading rehearsals as necessary
- Coach solos and ensembles by arranging or transposing music, teaching notes and rhythm, recognizing and resolving intonation problems, teaching good vocal techniques, providing suggestions regarding the interpretation of music, and encouraging students.
