Experienced Injection Mold Operator

How would you contribute? As an experienced Mold Operator you are a key to the continued growth and success of Airlite. This role is responsible for providing support by assisting with and creating solid processes to address, resolve and track technical issues for injection mold systems; testing and modifying molding machinery, robots, and equipment to optimize run efficiency, reduce scrap and reduce cost of quality; working directly on the production floor in a continuous improvement and technical support role.

Essential Duties:

  • Ability to work 2nd shift (2:30pm - 11:00pm) or 3rd shift (10:30pm - 7:00am)

System diagnostics and repairs

  • Provide technical support to operate and troubleshoot process problems within the injection molding systems.
  • Monitor / track technical issues for injection mold systems daily to determine the system losses. Including, but not limited to, system stops, downtime, cavitation, cycle time, and scrap losses.
  • Research data from machine HMIs, station inspection logs and SRO systems for system reliability and prepare plans for resolution.

Performance optimization

  • Work with production and engineering teams to resolve or improve system losses. This includes supporting process development, process testing and evaluation of system improvement.
  • Devise, fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components for industrial equipment and machinery to resolve or improve system losses.
  • Record test procedures and results in the form of numerical or graphical data and submit recommendations for possible changes to management.
  • Communicate with production and support departments test outlines, timing and results, provide recommendations for improvement projects.
  • Support and maintain project action plans for continuous improvement within the assigned area.

Process setup, control, and stability

  • Support the development of processes by evaluating process changes daily. Track and report findings to the production and engineering team.
  • Design and manage machine set-up sheets by developing new set-up sheets, evaluating process changes, testing of new methods, approval of set-up sheet changes. Track and record current and historical set-up data sheets.

General

  • Uphold and support core values, organizational goals and views.
  • Assists in machine start-ups and shut down following documented procedures, during process testing.
  • Communicate with quality auditors, machine operators, and production personnel to review quality problems, changes in process setup sheets or part handling processes; recommends adjustments/improvements. Record process changes in the Inspection Log Comments.
  • Provides product acceptability instruction to packers after completion of machine adjustments.
  • Maintains housekeeping expectations, including SQF requirements, reports potential machine or work hazards, complies with safety standards, responds immediately to emergency machine problems, and ensures the safety of co-workers within designated work area.
  • Maintains company attendance expectations.
  • Reports food safety concerns to management.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Injection molding manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents to include safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, charts, graphs and diagrams.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and perform in a continuous improvement capacity.
  • Capability to utilize problem solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects/activities/goals.
  • Must be able to work well with others, build partnerships and support team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and tactful in dealing with people at all levels.
  • Must be self-motivated and positive.
