JOB DESCRIPTION
The Community Engagement Manager plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Community Foundation and SHARE Iowa by fostering strong relationships with nonprofit partners and creating compelling, multi-channel content. Reporting to the Director of Marketing + Engagement, this position is responsible for onboarding, supporting, and retaining nonprofit organizations on the SHARE Iowa platform. The Manager ensures the platform remains vibrant, informative, and engaging, helping to drive community involvement and awareness.

In addition to supporting nonprofit partnerships, this role contributes to the development and execution of marketing and communication tools such as social media, website, newsletters, and press releases. The Community Engagement Manager also executes and delivers on community-facing events and programs that elevate the Foundation’s visibility and impact across the region.

This is a highly collaborative position that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for community engagement. The Community Engagement Manager is an essential member of the team, helping to bring the Foundation’s mission to life through meaningful connections and storytelling.

The Community Foundation for Western Iowa (CFWI) is a tax-exempt public charity, 501(c)(3), that serves thousands of people who share a common interest in improving the quality of life in western Iowa. Individuals, families, businesses and organizations help their communities meet the challenges of changing times and amplify their philanthropic potential through the permanent charitable funds that CFWI invest, administer, and facilitate. CFWI is overseen by a volunteer board of leading community-focused citizens and managed by dedicated professionals with expertise in identifying the needs of their community.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Relationship Building & Community Engagement

  • Responsible for nurturing nonprofit relationships to ensure they see the value in being an active participant in the SHARE Iowa platform. This includes onboarding, training, providing technical assistance and retaining nonprofit organizations on the platform. Ensure nonprofits engage in SHARE Iowa programming and other collaboration opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing assistance to nonprofit participants, including responding to requests for information, monitoring participants’ site content, including their profiles, volunteer opportunities, and shopping lists, and providing content review, editing, and coaching.
  • Facilitate the exchange of best practices and programmatic information with other staff, nonprofits, and community partners.
  • Plan and develop membership recruitment and retention materials including marketing, website updates and maintenance, toolkits, newsletter content and presentations.
Programming & Event Planning
  • Plan and implement networking events, workshops, presentations and meetings. Includes designing and delivering programming, executing events, organizing and leading Giving Tuesday efforts, office hours/assistance and other opportunities that provide support and demonstrate the value of being a SHARE Iowa and Community Foundation participants.
  • Sets, monitors and analyzes metrics for participant engagement and programming, including site metrics and analysis, quality of participant site content, attendance at events, campaign performance and other measurements.
  • Support and execute program activities to achieve organizational priorities and measure meaningful results for the Community Foundation for Western Iowa.
Marketing and Graphic Design
  • Create a fresh, on-message posting schedule for the Foundation’s social media sites; develop and maintain annual social media calendar.
  • Schedules and executes all check presentations, photos, and social media posts related to foundation activities.
  • Assists with the creation of press and media releases to share the story and mission of SHARE Iowa and the Community Foundation for Western Iowa.
  • Assist in the content creation for website updates, press releases, and other materials as needed.
Organizational & Administrative
  • Responsible for maintaining nonprofit participant database and affiliated needs for customer relationship management and communication.
  • Maintain and achieve a high level of professionalism with all relationships within and outside of the Community Foundation.
Other

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, or marketing
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in event planning and management, including attention to detail and post-event assessment.
  • Experience with technology and willingness to learn new systems.

  • Ability to plan, manage, organize and implement multiple projects to meet and exceed the community foundation’s goals.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to tell a story in writing and create high-level content for the organization.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to respond quickly and positively to change and shifting demands.
  • Experience with content creation software and social media posting.
  • Ability to commit to the organization’s actions and resources in a way that affects a positive public image.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information in possession of the community foundation and all discussions of community foundation business, is dependable and punctual, and abides by all specific program and procedures, policies and requirements and follows nationally accredited best practices.
 WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain.
  • Ability to work some long hours and some evenings and weekends. Willingness to day-travel, primarily in, but not limited to, the nine-county southwest Iowa region.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and maintain it throughout the course of employment.
