Facility Maintenance Tech - 1st Shift

How would you contribute?  This role is a contributing member of our Airlite Plastics team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Facility Maintenance Tech you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. This role is will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing mechanical, various systems and infrastructure within assigned facility to uphold safety, functionality and aesthetics.  

 

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct routine inspections of building systems, equipment, grounds and parking areas to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards and cleanliness issues. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules to keep systems operating at optimal levels.
  • Address maintenance requests promptly, including repairs to building infrastructure, equipment, systems and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical (3 phase), plumbing and HVAC systems as needed. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans to determine welding and fabricating requirements.
  • Measure and cut materials to specific lengths using various tools and equipment.
  • Weld and fabricate metal, copper, and aluminum components using MIG and TIG welding techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections and equipment inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols when performing maintenance tasks or operating equipment.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures, including drills, evacuations and facility shutdowns. 
  • Assist with snow removal and ice management during inclement weather conditions to maintain safe access to the facility.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects, renovations or upgrades as assigned. 
  • Operate industrial trucks, including forklifts or other motorized rolling stock.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members as needed. 
  • Maintain housekeeping standards. 
  • Attend work regularly as scheduled, including weekend or overtime work as assigned. 
  • Report food safety concerns to management.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Prior facility maintenance experience preferred. 
  • Prior welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Prior 3 phase electrical experience preferred.
  • Prior HVAC experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Capability to utilize problem solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects/activities/goals.
  • Must be able to work well with others, build partnerships and support team members. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and tactful in dealing with people at all levels.
  • Must be self-motivated and positive.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
  • Display highest ethical standards.
  • Maintain the utmost level of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information.
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to operate Microsoft Office products.
